Common questions
-
The sound plays while the phone is in silent mode. Is that a bug?
No, it is intentional. The end-of-phase sound plays in silent mode too — otherwise the switch is easy to miss, and a timer is meant to stay out of your attention. The sound preview in settings stays quiet in silent mode, and that is normal: it only helps you choose.
-
Does the timer keep running if I close the app?
Yes. The phase counts down even when the app is closed. The card on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows the time, and a notification arrives when the phase ends.
-
The background isn’t moving
Three reasons, most common first. Appearance has a Motion switch that stops the animation of any background. The system setting Reduce Motion does the same: the background stays visible but still. And the power-saving settings choose the animation style of the counter.
-
Notifications don’t arrive
Notification permission is required. If it wasn’t granted at first launch, you can turn it on in system settings, under Capsla’s notifications.
-
Blocking apps during a focus doesn’t work
This needs Screen Time access — Capsla asks for it the moment you turn blocking on. If access wasn’t granted or was revoked, you can grant it again in system settings, under Screen Time.
-
History doesn’t show up on my second device
Syncing goes through your own iCloud: both devices must be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on. Phase history and tags are synced. Timer settings stay on the device and do not travel — that is intentional.
-
How do I clear the history?
The statistics screen has Clear history. The app warns you in as many words: records of finished phases will be deleted from this device and from your iCloud, and the action cannot be undone.
-
Why can a break be skipped but a focus can’t?
That is intentional. Skipping exists only for a break — in the app, on the Lock Screen card and in the Siri commands.
-
A tag doesn’t show up in search on the phone
Tags are handed to search when the app launches. If a tag was just created, opening Capsla once more is enough.
-
Do I need an account?
No. There is no Capsla account: everything is kept on your device and in your iCloud.
