Describing Capsla
In one sentence
Capsla is a Pomodoro timer for iPhone and Apple Watch that runs whole focus sessions on its own, shows the countdown wherever you look and keeps distracting apps closed until focus ends.
In a paragraph
Capsla turns the Pomodoro technique into a session that runs itself: focus, a short break and the next focus follow one another without a tap until the long break, and every transition is scheduled ahead, so it keeps going with the app closed. The countdown lives in a Live Activity and the Dynamic Island, on the Lock Screen, in widgets and on Apple Watch, where its own app starts and pauses focus even without the iPhone nearby. On iPhone Duo it uses both the outer and the inner display, and half-folded it keeps the timer on one half, away from the fold. During focus, Screen Time keeps the apps you chose closed. Statistics count net focus time without pauses, and history starts the day you install the app, with nothing filled in after the fact. The core is free with no ads; Capsla+ is a one-time purchase that adds backgrounds, typefaces for the timer and focus sounds.
What makes it different
- A session that runs itselfSeparate switches start breaks and the next focus automatically. Transitions are scheduled ahead, so signals arrive on time with the app closed.
- On the wrist, without the phoneThe Apple Watch app starts and pauses focus even when the iPhone isn’t nearby, taps the wrist at the end of a phase and counts in the iPhone’s statistics.
- Statistics that don’t flatterNet minutes without pauses, the hours you focus best, days in a row. History starts at install and the app never fills in numbers it did not record.
- Privacy you can checkThere is no account. The Privacy screen shows the actual events Capsla has sent from the device, and two switches turn collection off.
- Free core, one-time extrasEverything released before Capsla+ stays free. Capsla+ adds looks and sound only, with no subscription and no pop-ups asking to buy.
New in 1.6.0
- Focus, break and cycle settings can change mid-session: the running phase finishes as it was, and the new values apply from the next one
- Breaks can be set to 0 minutes, so focus follows focus
- The round Lock Screen widget starts the timer
- iPhone Duo: Capsla fits both the outer and the inner display; half-folded, the timer sits on one half and moves to the other with a tap
- The update notice appears within an hour of a release
